It's almost Summer! Now is a great time to give your curtains and blinds a little refresh after the cold winter months. Dust, stains, grime and fingerprints can quickly accumulate without regular maintenance. Don’t worry though, it won’t take too long to get your window furnishings looking spick and span again. Follow our care instructions below to get started.

All curtains
You can vacuum your curtains using a dust brush or other appropriate attachment to remove any dust build up. We recommend professional cleaning by specialist curtain cleaning companies for problem areas or stains you cannot remove.

Thermal Curtains and Blockout Curtains
These curtains should be gently hand washed in cold water, taking care not to allow the coating to stick together. You should never rub or wring out the curtains as this could damage the lining.  Allow them to drip dry in the shade using hooks, rather than pegs. Be careful not to touch the backing whilst it is wet.

Press with a cool iron on the fabric side only.

These curtains should not be soaked, bleached, tumble dried or dry-cleaned.

Triple Weave Curtains
All of our triple-weave curtains are machine washable, meaning there is no need to handwash or pay to get them professionally cleaned. Put them through a cold machine wash and hang them to dry in the shade. You can also choose to press them with a cool iron. Do not soak, rub, wring, tumble dry, bleach or dry-clean these curtains.

Lined Curtains
Simply give these curtains a cold handwash and drip dry them in the shade. Once they are dry, you can press with a cool iron. You should not bleach, soak, rub, wring, tumble dry or dry-clean these curtains.

Sheers
Give sheers a cold, gentle handwash and drip dry them in the shade. Do not bleach, soak, rub, wring, tumble dry or dry-clean them. Press with a cool iron if desired.

Roman Blinds
As a common household dust collector, Roman Blinds should be regularly vacuumed with a dust brush or other appropriate attachment on a light suction setting. If further cleaning is required, we recommend professional curtain cleaning.

Roller Blinds and Vertical Blinds
Vacuum these blinds as often as you do your floor. Use a dust brush or other appropriate attachment on a low suction setting to gently remove dust.

You can wipe spots, spills or dirty fingerprints with a damp, clean cloth and leave to dry completely before moving.

Do not use chemical cleaners on these blinds.

Venetian Blinds
Brush off any dust using a soft white cloth, feather duster or a vacuum cleaner with a dust brush attachment on a low suction. Remember to tilt the slats up and then down (but not entirely closed) to reach the top and bottom surfaces. Do not use any solvents on Venetian Blinds.

Shutters
Use a feather duster or damp, clean and preferably white microfibre cloth to remove any dust. You can also use a vacuum cleaner with a soft dust brush attachment. Tilt the louvre up and then down to reach the entire top and bottom surface. Solvents should never be used on shutters.

Cellular/Honeycomb Blinds
Regularly dust these blinds with a feather duster or vacuum gently with a low suction setting and a long-bristled attachment. Do not vacuum Luxaflex Elan fabrics.

If you need to spot clean, dampen a clean, white cloth with warm water and a mild detergent solution then dab the spot until it is gone. Be careful to not rub the spot. Allow the fabric to dry in its completely lowered position. Do not spot clean Luxaflex Alexa, Elan or India silks.

In the occurrence of an insect or spider going inside the cell, blow it out using a hairdryer on the cold air setting.
